Adjusting hotspot settings allows you to control how devices connect when using your Apple®<\/span> iPad®<\/span> as a portable Wi\u002DFi network.<\/div><\/div>

Before you begin<\/div><\/h2>

For USB tethered connections on your iPad, iTunes must be installed<\/a> on the computer.<\/div><\/div>

Ensure Personal Hotspot is set up<\/a>. The activation process may take several minutes.<\/div><\/div> <\/div><\/section><\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

Steps<\/div><\/h2>

Open the
Settings app<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
Tap
Personal Hotspot<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
Tap the
Allow Others to Join switch<\/div><\/span> to turn on.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
Tap the
Maximize Compatibility switch<\/div><\/span> to turn on or off.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
If prompted, select the applicable setting:<\/div><\/span>
Turn on Wi\u002DFi and Bluetooth<\/div><\/b>: Personal Hotspot available over Bluetooth®<\/span>, USB and Wi\u002DFi.<\/div><\/li>
USB only<\/div><\/b>: Personal Hotspot available over USB only. The USB connection is visible in the computer\x27s network connections. To verify, refer to one of the following:
