Get the latest software for your Motorola device when over\u002Dthe\u002Dair updates fail. Use the Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA) on your computer to install essential updates.<\/div><\/div>

Before you begin<\/div><\/h2>
The Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA) must be installed on a compatible computer<\/a>.<\/div><\/div>
Ensure your device is powered on and connected it to the computer using the supplied USB cable.<\/div><\/div>
The steps below can be followed when Auto\u002DUpdates is turned on<\/a>.<\/div><\/div>
The most recent software version becomes available on the SUA\/SRA tool within a week of a new software update. During this time, the SUA\/SRA is unavailable for usage.<\/div><\/div>
The software update process may take up to 30\u002D90 minutes. Do not disconnect the device from the computer during the upgrade process.<\/div><\/div> <\/div><\/section><\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

Windows®<\/span><\/div><\/h2>
  1. From the device, swipe down on the Status Bar, tap the USB connection entry, then tap
    Software Installation mode<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
  2. If an update is available, a pop\u002Dup is presented on the taskbar. Click the pop\u002Dup to open the SUA.<\/div><\/span>
    If the pop\u002Dup doesn\x27t appear, right\u002Dclick the
    Software Upgrade Assistant tray icon<\/div><\/span> to open the Software Upgrade Assistant tool.<\/div><\/div> <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/li>
  3. From the SUA, click
    Update Software<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
  4. When the software upgrade process has been completed, click
    Done<\/div><\/span> and disconnect your device. <\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
  5. If the update fails to install or the device is up\u002Dto\u002Ddate, click
    Restore Device<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
  6. On the Restore Device screen, select whether to erase or keep the device data then click
    Continue<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
  7. When the restoration process is complete, click
    Done<\/div><\/span> and disconnect your device.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li><\/div><\/ol><\/div> <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

    1. From the device, swipe down on the Status Bar, tap the USB connection entry, then tap

      The SUA opens and checks for updates.<\/div><\/div> <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/li>
    2. From the SUA, click
      Update Software<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
    3. When the software upgrade process has been completed, click
      Done<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
    4. If the update fails to install or the device is up\u002Dto\u002Ddate, click
      Restore Device<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span><\/div><\/li>
    5. On the Restore Device screen, select whether to erase or keep the device data then click

    6. On the Google Account info needed screen, select the appropriate option then click
      Proceed<\/div><\/span>.<\/div><\/span>
      If \x22Hold on...\x22 is selected, the SUA gives instructions on how to remove the Google account from the device.<\/div><\/div> <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/li>
    7. When the restoration process is complete, click
